Also, if you have a portable hard drive or USB stick, load up the firmware updates that you downloaded and bring them with you, I'll have my laptop and It has no issues connecting to a naza for firmware updates and stuff so we can double check programming and update it. I did some Google searching and it seems like your particular model has lots of GPS issues, more than anything else I can find for anything else DJI, but there's a ton of suggestions out there for ways to improve it

I really don't know the answer to that to be honest. I don't think it's a firmware thing, I would tend to think that it's more of a shielding and interference issue, as you said, all is well until you transmit video. Usually the DJI stuff seems to just go, it's everything else that was experiencing that type of interference.

There's your problem buddy. The whole WiFi and GPS issue first really came to light when people were running go pro cameras on the 350QX quad. The go pro has WiFi and when left on, would cause GPS drops and all kinds of funny situations to occur. There's lots of variables involved, but the problem tends to go away when any transmitting equipment is moved as far away as possible from the GPS antenna, and everything transmitting is shielded by copper. Not a problem for a go pro just hung on the bottom of a 350QX, bigger deal when you want the signal to actually transmit so you can do some fpv with it. The only stuff I've ever really heard of being successful for some reason is the DJI stuff on 2.4, yet random, unexplained other issues with transmitters at the field seemed to happen as well (loss of signal) when those units were being used.

Between 3 Naza systems, a couple 350QX's, an APM and a vector, not once have I lost a lock at the field. I do take great care to route my GPS cables as far away as possible from any power sources, make sure it has a 100% lock on the ground (for naza, no red lights, plus a rapid series of green flashes, then another set for home lock). Which system are you running and where do you lose the lock? Your backyard? The field? A park?

I ended up just ordering from alignrccdn, had a screw break off in a frame brace and in the tail case too, so instead of flying this weekend, I'll be waiting on parts. Should have stuck with multi rotors

Anyone upgrade their gyro or receiver mounting plates to aluminum and have the plastic one kicking around? The used 500 I bought only had the receiver plate, and no gyro plate. He had a micro beast mounted right to the tail box. The naza I'm installing won't fit between the two mounts for the plate, but fits just fine if I put the plate it and the tape allows it to clear the brackets and sit on top. Just not sure about flying out with the receiver plate out of it.
