July 13, 2014: Conditions: Sunny, temp around 26, very light east wind, grass freshly cut, no mosquitoes to speak of. Gate locked and nobody flying while I was there, from around 5:30-8:00 pm. Surprised at the lack of flying considering the time and conditions, and a waste of a very valuable resource for bigger heli pilots in the Edmonton area. Oh well, I enjoyed the flying space.

Not a good evening. Had forgotten to re-install bottom shaft bolt. Lost collective control after flipping. Lightly crashed X5 inverted. No obvious damage, but I'm sure there's some. Logo 600: managed to fly well into 3rd pack, then let it get too close to me and crashed hard. Forgot to hit soft deck feature that I had to turn off earlier because it wasn't allowing me to flip and roll. Main blades shot, main links bent and popped; landing gear ejected with obvious damage. Will go over bird more carefully after "licking my wounds". Thomas

Thanks for the post Shawn. Big family event conflicts with this event that I'd love to go to: family - Shag...Shag - family... family ... (dang)!

Good to know. Thanks Mark. I have paid for my 2014 MAAC membership and expect to get that in the mail soon. There was mention of a meeting coming up where members could renew their ERCHA memberships. Otherwise I can mail cheque to you? In the meantime, may I assume that it's okay for me to fly at the club field?

I really appreciate both Travises going out and spending time bushwacking for my X5. That's not exactly a walk in the park over there. I went out several times, once with my wife and spent hours looking for it. It might have landed in a slough. There's some wetland back there. I consider it gone and have passed through all five stages of grief over it. I was tempted to replace it with another X5, seeing I still have some spare parts, but decided it was an opportunity to experience another heli. You know the urge! I bought a used Logo 600 3D and a new Warp 360 combo. The Logo is going to have a Skookum GPS on it for the "Logo come home!" feature. I hope to test the Warp at the next indoor event. Setting up endpoints using the USB connection to my Brain didn't work so I'll be trying the YGE governor. I might try setting up the Brain governor with a Bluetooth module if the ESC governor gives problems. Spring is coming....yeah! Meanwhile back to the SIM. Thanks again for your help and concern. Thomas

I'll see if any thing is available sooner
Kd
I'll be looking for news. By the way, why don't smileys retain their image when I drag them into messages? T

If anyone finds a Gaui X5 on the ground east of 34th street, please pm me. I've already spent several hours searching on McCloskey's property without success. Difficult terrain to search. Thanks.

Oops! Put this in the wrong thread. Here's where it should have gone. Mark and Ken did a great job hosting the event this year. Thanks again for what you did.
I think I am the undefeated crash champ two years in a row now. It's too bad someone already took on the moniker, "Sir Crashalot", otherwise I'd probably adopt it. Other than that, it was a good time.
